The eye of SOLVEIGH KAEHLER perceives at the back of apparent reality a world of unsuspected energy, of original forms and of yearning toward a universe of greater essentiality. She photographs in black and white chosen as a weapon to reveal the world's nuances in the infinity of hues of grey. In the last ten years her work has covered areas as diverse as the celebration of heritage (as it may be seen in her photographs of Chambord, of Mont-Saint-Michel, of Carnac, of Lesbos and other Greek sites), the expression of childhood and of the mask, the close link with the sea as source of life, exiled faces, the landscape conceived as a space empty and inhabitable. Those who have seen her photographs in the US, in France, in Germany, in Greece, have been moved and fascinated by these images, often exhibited in prestigious locations.
